Coefficient of Performance Episode Transcript. Length - 33:35 Magnetofunky No. 95. It's Friday, October 26th, 2018. [intro theme] Hey. Larry here... This week I look at the efficiency standard used to rate the Benitez build, as the blender motor modification has me stuck in the ditch, full of glue. Anyway, the music is a selection from the Wash. DC area... [song] - 00:49 Ok, that was La China - Zakke, an up-and-coming World / Latin / Alternative band from Washington D.C. known for their Latin Fusion Style and their high-energy level performances, a blend of Latin rhythms with an explosive twist of Funk, Ska, Disco and Rock beats. Cool... This is a laid back (and often explicit - you bet your ass) weekly international podzine of extremely eclectic music and progressive politics, with a focus on energy independence for the 99%. My podpages are 1223studios.com/mfunky.h and facebook.com/1223Studios. [Grid Theory] - 04:10 Not Heat Pumps Ok, In Grid Theory, I'm going back to a patch of weeds I sidestepped by putting away the Bedini Motor - the formula that tells you whether you're getting any 'free energy' in numbers. The Coefficient of Performance, or C of P. It's usually associated with the efficiency of heat pumps in your fridge or air conditioner, Typical no. is 4, meaning 4 to 1, for every single unit of energy input, there's 4 units output, or 400%. But, the Benitez doohickey ain't heat pump. Luckily, C of P also refers to the charging and discharging cycle of batteries, and the end result of the math in this case tells you whether or not your batteries can be maintained indefinitely without turning into Benitez-use only batteries. That said, the magic number for the Benitez circuit is 2.2, which Friedrich and Lindemann and others say has been done with the Bedini deluxe I wasn't gonna build, but it seems much easier to reach with the Benitez process with much less tweaking of the components. Now I'm not going into the deep weeds on the process of measuring C of P cause, frankly, there's only one source I found that goes step by step specifically with batteries, it's in a professional engineering society paper published earlier this year, and it's behind a paywall until my next payday, or when I actually build the thing. But, if I can get a Benitez device to beat that 2.2 C of P, that answers the question I posed back in show no. 1: how do you charge a battery on day 3 of a Grid Down? --- [bell] Ok, coming back with the damn rotor... [Back To The Stage] - 07:04 Ok, Back to The Stage, continuing the Beltway Beat and Flow now that my indie band ad is being run on DC Craigslist. We continue with DON'T STOP - Band Of Roses, an R&B/Soul / Funk outfit in Bowie, MD. Originally assembled in 2012 for a one-time performance; by overwhelming demand, revamped and reintroduced as a viable, formidable unit in 2015, the Band Of Roses quickly and continues to establish themselves as one of the DMV's most reputable, sought after all-female Jazz, Soul, Funk and R&B bands, and are rapidly gaining recognition locally and abroad. Cool... [song] - 07:59 Next up it's Lovers in Lullaby - FIVES, an Alternative / pop / indie band in Rockville, MD. Their first record, “A Brief History” was released in 2013. Since then they have opened for artists such as O-Town and the Vespers, played SXSW to a sold out audience in 2015 and in August of 2016, their EP, “Heart & Thunder” was released to positive attention in the press and industry alike. [song] - 10:49 Ok, wrapping the set with Underneath - Thieves and Lovers, an acoustic rock alternative pop band outta Baltimore that was formed in sunny southern California. The song is from their new album The World is Sleeping - released June 15, 2018, and BTW, their next gigs are Dec 01 Tribal Café Los Angeles, CA Dec 04 Black Forge Coffee House Pittsburgh, PA [song] - 14:42 ["Geeknotes"] - 18:58 Geeknotes: 10/27 - AFROLIT Youth Literacy Conference @ Laney College, Oakland, 10/29 - UCOT (Unintended Consequences of Technology) World Forum @ Fairmont San Francisco, 11/01 - Kickstarter Campaign to Build Giordano Bruno Statue @ Luminaries of Pantheism Mural, Venice Beach Hey, Geeknotes! Today it's Friday the 26th of October, and rather than throw lugs at Uncle Caligula (alias P-Grabby) and the Saudi crown prince treating the death of Jamal Khashoggi like a damn sitcom episode, when the real okee-doke is Bolton and Putin threatening to revive the Cold War, selling big humoungous-ass wolf tickets, a foreign policy crisis you might flip into attacking Iran using the 'Russian client' excuse. It's BS because we don't have the money - Orange Queenie and the minions already robbed the Govt's account at Gringott's and divvied up that trillion dollar pot. Like the HHS memo about erasing trans identity - it's just another form of waving the bloody shirt: something to enrage and anguish one of the many demographics despised by P-Grabby's base, which gives them a huge red-hat boner, which is all they care about as the world burns. Meanwhile, the Lone Wolf Battalion steps with it's October Surprise with visions of church bombings dancing in their heads, as our pisspot dictator mouths a scripted call for unity between Nazi rallies. Yeah, fold it into sharp corners and shove it up your orange candy ass... Anyway, and closer to home, the California Republic has a robust tradition of propositions and ballot initiatives, sometimes so many they affect the actual number of people who vote, which is kinda counter-intuitive. So, I have a simple proposition - a measure to end the proposition process in the state, and force the state senators and representatives AND the governor AND our federal senators to do their damn jobs and run these through the process designed to hash out and vote for these measures, or else, we can take this crap to its logical conclusion and do away with the state assembly and senate and let's all of us just vote on everything - direct state democracy. And lastly, I still want to go from 2 parties to 4 or 5, because with more than 2 parties, it's much harder to engage in polarizing debates. Frankly, there's too much debate and not enough conversation, precisely because no one 'wins' a conversation when you do it right... Anyway, let's run the dates: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Phasellus lobortis ac purus sit amet vestibulum. I intended to be dealing with the enclosure this week, but that got sidelined once I disassembled the thrift store blender and got the motor and a few goodies from the circuit board inside - like a nice transistor with its own heatsink. Anyway, when I got the rotor separated from the stator I saw that there'd be no salvaging the magnet wire from the rotor coil cause it was nice and shiny and solid from the glue holding the windings firmly in place. It took about 4 hours to carefully cut the non-commutator end of the coil with my beat up wire snips trying not to damage the housing, then I could bring in the only solvent said to work on said glue - acetone, AKA nail polish remover. I set up a free stand to hold the coil using a coffee can lid, put a disposable shop rag in the can and used an eyedropper to drip acetone into each bundle, let it sit and soak and repeated for two days, and now I have the commutator-side upright and gave it a couple go-rounds and got more to go. Meanwhile, I did get a few measurements for the mini booster - it takes up 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 3" high, but for the enclosure I'm still imagining how to put an AC and a DC outlet on this thing... [One More Tune] - 28:13 For One More Tune, we close out with Gravity - The Frontier, a pop folk indie group in Vienna, Va., that combines mainstream rock and indie flavors to make a unique sound of it's own. They have released 2 ep's along with 2 singles and amassed fans from all over the world just from digital releases alone. Nice video... [song] - 28:42 Well Ok... [Closing] - 32:06 Hey, this show is a 1223studios joint. Show files are at iTunes, Internet Archive, Stitcher, Tunein, Listen Notes, Podknife and Mixcloud. Episode notes are on the podpages, and you can download the MP3 directly. If you like the show, tell your friends, and hey, some of you corp. media meat puppets, for ignoring a serious pushback analysis against the terrorist bomber elephants in the room in favor of fast downshifting to 'both sides' bs that lets you off the hook and keeps the profit stream rolling, even if you are being chased - yeah how bad could it actually get? Kiss the both sides of my ass.. Show themes "Rocket Power" & "Spy Glass" by NY musician and composer Kevin MacLeod. Some additional audio from freesound.org. Next episode is set for Friday. Nov 2nd. I'm Larry, trying hard to stay chill at my garrett in the Mission, and this is Magnetofunky, from San Francisco, where we go through, not into, the darkness. |
